The All India Trade Union Congress (AITUC) has announced a one-day nationwide strike on February 12, 2026, in solidarity with central trade unions and farmers’ unions to protest against what it described as anti-labour and anti-farmer policies of the government.
In a statement, AITUC said the strike is being called to oppose measures such as the implementation of Labour Codes, privatisation of public sector undertakings, contractualisation of jobs, and the alleged dilution of hard-earned workers’ rights. The organisation alleged that these policies are adversely impacting job security, wages, and social protection for millions of workers across the country.

AITUC further stated that the protest will also highlight long-pending demands, including the need for statutory minimum wages, universal social security, and protection of the public sector. On the farmers’ front, the union reiterated its demand for a legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) and safeguards for agricultural livelihoods.
In Goa, AITUC said the strike will draw attention to unresolved workers’ issues in various sectors and called upon workers, farmers, and employees to participate in large numbers to make the protest a success.
The union maintained that the nationwide strike is aimed at pressuring the government to reconsider its policies and engage in meaningful dialogue with trade unions and farmers’ organisations.
