AITUC General Secretary Christopher Fonseca said it is very sad that senior citizens are not getting pension to live a respectful life. “We demand that the government pays at least Rs 10,000 as monthly pension to senior citizens,” he said.

Advocate Suhas Naik said,”The USP of the present government is to make false claims. They tell lies, preach it and practice it. We are opposing this and calling on the people to raise their voice against what is happening in Goa.”

“The government signed an agreement with Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL) promising to pay the arrears of provident fund at the rate of 12 per cent and regularise the services of contract workers but they have not done that. They have gone back on their voice. This is pathetic,” he said.

He pointed out that the employees of River and Navigation Department (RND) are still waiting for the payment for overtime work done by them.

Similarly promises were made to the workers of Sanjivani Sugar Factory but nothing has been done, he claimed.
