In a thrilling AFC Champions League 2 encounter at PJN Stadium, Fatorda, Al Nassr Club edged past FC Goa 2-1 on Wednesday, maintaining their dominance against the Indian side.
The match started with high intensity as FC Goa’s defence held firm against early pressure. Within the opening minute, Al Nassr forward Ayman Yahya’s powerful strike was brilliantly cleared by defender Sandesh Jhingan. Moments later, Angelo Damaceno of Al Nassr narrowly missed the target, while FC Goa responded with Boris Singh Thangjam’s attempt going wide.

Al Nassr broke the deadlock in the 10th minute when Angelo Damaceno converted a superb assist from Ayman Yahya. The visitors doubled their lead in the 27th minute through a precise finish by Harquene Mousa Camara, following a tricky move from Yahya. FC Goa’s Boris Singh had a chance in the 29th minute but failed to convert. The Indian side reduced the deficit in the 41st minute when Brison Deuben Fernandes scored with a well-placed shot, ending the first half 2-1 in Al Nassr’s favour.
The second half saw chances at both ends. Sandesh Jhingan cleared Abdulelah Almri’s shot in the 47th minute, while Al Nassr’s Harquene Mousa Camara missed opportunities in the 56th and 61st minutes. FC Goa’s Boris Singh Thangjam and Muhammed Nemil Valiyattil also went close, but the visitors’ defence held firm. Joao Felix and Sultan Al Ghananam missed opportunities for Al Nassr late in the 80th and 82nd minutes.
The match ended on a sour note for FC Goa as David Timor Gopovi was shown a red card in the 92nd minute after receiving a second yellow.
With this win, Al Nassr continues their strong campaign in the AFC Champions League, while FC Goa will look to bounce back in their upcoming fixtures.
