MAPUSA: Aldona MLA Glenn Ticlo has assured to repair all the high-mast lamps in his constituency.
Commenting on the Tar-Bastora underpass and the elevated road, the MLA expressed hope that the same would be ready for inauguration in December. Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar are scheduled to inaugurate the structures in December.
Currently, the Tar-Bastora underpass and the elevated road are being used by the public after they were temporarily inaugurated on September 11 in view of the Ganesh Chaturthi celebration by PWD Minister Ramakrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar.
The underpass and elevated road would be formally inaugurated in December once the pending works on the same are completed.
“In December a grand opening of the flyover will be held and we are hopeful that Parrikar will be fit enough to inaugurate the project along with Gadkari,” he said.
Meanwhile, Ticlo accused the Congress of trying to take credit for the works taken up by him in Aldona Constituency.
He said that after the issue of non-functioning of lights on Calvim Bridge, due to power disconnection, was highlighted on social media, he restored power and re-illuminated the bridge. “However, the Congress tried to take the credit for the work,” he alleged.
Alleging that the junction boxes, cables and electrical fixtures on bridge have been damaged deliberately either by some unidentified miscreants or the Congress workers, Ticlo questioned, “Why are people not targeting any other bridge?”
“If the Congress really wants to work for the people of Aldona I think they should support the MLA and help him. They should stop trying to fool the people because the people from the constituency are wise enough,” he added.
