In a tragic development, Yogender Singh, the President of the All India Sepak Takraw Association, was among those who lost their lives in the fatal road accident at Bambolim early this morning.
Singh, aged 52, was in Goa to attend the 35th National Sepak Takraw Championship, which concluded on October 27 at Navelim. He was reportedly travelling with two others when their car was struck by a tanker that lost control while descending a slope on the Bambolim Highway.

The collision, which occurred around 1 a.m., claimed two lives on the spot, including Singh’s, and left the vehicle completely mangled. Police and emergency services reached the scene immediately, and the bodies were later shifted to Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC), Bambolim, for post-mortem.
Authorities suspect overspeeding and loss of control as the primary causes of the accident. The news has deeply saddened the sports fraternity, with officials and players across the country mourning the untimely demise of a respected administrator who had played a key role in promoting Sepak Takraw in India.
An investigation into the accident is underway.
