MARGAO: The Ambelim gram sabha besides resolving to discuss the Coastal Zone Management Plan in each ward also resolved that the Fisheries Department make arrangements to sell fish from the Cutbona jetty in the village.
It was resolved that fish that is unloaded at Cutbona jetty be sold at a subsidised rate in the villages of Velim, Assolna and Chinchinim as these villages bear the brunt of the fishing trade at the jetty.
The villagers also demanded that the lake called Sapu tollem be developed and fitted with a filtration plant to supply potable water to all the villages of Velim constituency.
Following a discussion on the CZMP, it was resolved to invite officials of the relevant department to discuss the draft plan for the village and concerned panchayat member to take the lead in preparing the draft plan for each ward,
The erratic street lights was heatedly discussed with the villagers lamenting that the agency given the task of maintaining them not attending to complaints and it was resolved to write to the electricity department to take action against the agency.
Parking was another issue discussed at the gram sabha with villagers suggesting that the area in the panchayat complex be converted into pay parking as besides the panchayat the complex has commercial establishments including a banquet hall.
