SANGUEM: Parents from Bandwada ward of Netravali village demanded that the concerned authorities complete the construction of Anganwadi in their village, work of which had started in August 2021 when Chief Minister Pramod Sawant had laid the foundation stone.
Interestingly Minister and local MLA Subhash Phal Dessai, refused to comment on this Anganwadi even though he is prompt to speak on the benefits of setting up IIT in the taluka.

The Parent-Teacher Association of the Government Primary School (GPS) in the village along with parents of the infants at Anganwadi made this demand as the construction work was allotted to a contractor at the cost of Rs 13.53 lakhs. However as soon as the work started, a local landlord stopped it claiming that the construction was being carried out in his private property without his permission.
His claim that the work was being done in his private property was confirmed by a surveyor attached to the office of the Sanguem Mamlatdar.
Sources disclosed that the Anganwadi was to be constructed in an area of 89.97 sq mts belonging to the Education Department after obtaining NOC from the department.
However, due to demarcation of a wrong plot, this work has been pending for the last two years and nobody has been held responsible for this mistake.
Local panch member Rakhi Naik who wants the Anganwadi to be constructed is in a fix as apparently the panchayat goofed up in identifying the wrong plot for the construction.
The panchayat is also in a tight corner as Atal Gram Development Agency that had released the funds for the construction, had set a deadline of nine months to start the work failing which the money should be refunded and already two years have lapsed.
Fearing that the Anganwadi will never be constructed, the aggrieved parents have now written to the panchayat to resolve the matter and explained the difficulties they face in housing the Anganwadi in only one room of the GPS premises at the moment.
Given the fact that the GPS had given one room of its premises to house the Anganwadi for only eight months, people now fear that the permission may be revoked as even after two years, the Anganwadi is not constructed.
