MARGAO: The Muslim community in Margao is angry after the Survey Department delayed the demarcation of kabrastan at Sonsodo by over one and half month.
After waiting till noon on Thursday for the surveyors, who failed to turn up for demarcation, the community has warned of agitation and demanded an explanation from survey officials and MC chief officer why the demarcation could not be carried out on Thursday.
The demarcation of the Kabrastan land had started on February 8 and just when it reached its last leg, the exercise has been postponed to March 29. The community has warned that it would not relent till the authorities complete the demarcation process.
Community leader Matin Carol said that the delay would have a cascading effect on the Kabrastan development work.
“There is a political interference in the entire Kabrastan issue and we have warned all the authorities as well as informed the police that we will be going to the survey and MMC offices,” Carol said.
Lot of hue and cry has already occurred in the Kabrastan issue with a group of people opposing to the demarcation work.
