PANJIM: The annual planned power shutdown on Saturday, March 11 from 7 am to 3 pm stands cancelled in view of the traditional Shigmo festival celebrations at various places in the South Goa district.
With the State already under the grip of the heat wave, the Electricity Department’s annual planned power shutdown notice for the entire South Goa district barring Ponda taluka on Saturday, from 7 am to 3 pm, had come as scorcher to the general public.
The department wanted to undertake annual maintenance of 220 kv and 110 kv (extra high voltage), inter-State and intra-State and Verna Sub-Station. Due to this, the department had announced no power supply to all associated 33/11 kv sub-stations and lines in the district.
Entire talukas of Canacona, Salcete, Sanguem, Quepem, Mormugao and parts of Dharbandora would have been affected during the annual planned shut down.
