He says govt will take call if CES restricts admissions

MARGAO: Deputy Director of Education, Ramkrishna Samant, said the government will take a call if the Chowgule Education Society restricts admissions to students for the higher secondary school.
Anxious parents and their wards called on Samant at the Education Department, South Zone, on Thursday morning after Chowgule Education Society opened its online admissions.
The parents drew attention of the deputy director that CES might restrict the number of admissions as per their whims and fancies. They recalled that the Society had last year restricted the number of students to around 130 when the institution’s intake capacity was 200-plus.
After giving the parents a patient hearing, Samant said he would brief his higher ups on their anxieties, assuring them that the department would find a way. “Since the higher secondary has opened online admissions only today, let us wait for the institute to take further action,” he told the parents.
Around 150 parents and students who called on Samat in the morning were directed to apply for admissions online, saying the Education Department has discontinued the admission process after Chowgule’s agreed to open admissions. “We cannot continue a parallel admission process when the management has started online admissions,” Samat told the parents.
