Arpora Birch Land Recorded as Khazan in Government Records, Revenue Minister Tells Goa Assembly

Revenue Minister Atanasio “Babush” Monserrate has informed the Goa Assembly that part of the Birch by Romeo Lane property, bearing survey number 159/1 at Arpora in Bardez, is officially recorded as a salt pan or khazan in government records.

Replying to a question raised by Goa Forward MLA Vijai Sardesai, Monserrate said the classification was reflected in official documents, confirming the traditional land status of the area.

When asked about possible administrative lapses in the matter, the Revenue Minister said the issue is pending before the appropriate authorities, who will take a decision after due consideration.

The statement comes amid ongoing discussions over land use and alleged irregularities in the area, with legislators seeking clarity on the legal status of the property and the government’s role in safeguarding traditional khazan lands.
