Margao: Some youth in Tilamol, Quepem set fire to a restaurant in the middle of the night on Sunday and destroyed property worth Rs. 3.5 lakhs. The fire destroyed the Village Nest restaurant along with valuables and appliances. According to the complaint filed by the owner Shakespeare Fernandes, the accused Jofeton Luis Travasso age 25 yrs from Xeldem, lit a bottle of fuel and hurled it into the restaurant. The police have registered an offence under sections 448, 436 r/w 34 IPC.
Shakespeare alleged the main accused on 08/05/2017 at 01.34 hrs along with two people, Valley D’Costa and Velrose trespassed into his restaurant at Diaswadi, Tilamol and set fire to the restaurant causing loss to the tune of Rs.3,50.000 approximately. The accused Jofeton Luis Travasso, 25 yrs from Xeldem, was arrested on Monday afternoon. An elderly couple was evacuated from the restaurant. Shakespeare produced a CCTV footage of the accused executing the criminal act.
