PANJIM: Art and Culture Minister and Chairman of Kala Academy, Govind Gaude, has refuted allegations that the institution was involved in any malpractices as alleged by Tiatr Mogi Goy (TMG).
He however acknowledged that the organisation of tiatr directors, TMG, has complained against the Tiatr competitions being organised by the institution and informed that an enquiry into the same is currently underway.
“There is no fixing in Kala Academy. The press conference was called by the group to create some pressure. There is an enquiry and investigation is going on. They should not have taken a press conference. Whatever is appropriate for the development of tiatr will be done but we will not succumb to the pressure tactics of the group”, he stated.
He further said that since the matter is sub-judice, the group should have waited for the judgment to be delivered to address the media with their grievances if there would be any remaining.
“The awards are given by the jury who was selected. The prizes have been announced but the prizes or the money has not been disbursed due to the ongoing investigation. The press conference shows that there is a big divide within the tiatr fraternity. Let me put it straight that we will not let Kala Academy as an institution get affected due to internal conflicts within the tiatrists”, he added.

Ravindra Bhavan Vasco to host Hindi theatre festival
PANJIM: Directorate of Art and Culture in collaboration with Jawahar Kala Kendra, Jaipur and Ravindra Bhavan, Baina will be organising Yuva Hindi Natyamahotsav from June 26 – 29 at Ravindra Bhavan in Baina, Vasco.
Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude informed that four plays will be presented over the four days and said it is an opportunity for Goan artists to know the way to present Hindi plays. “It is an opportunity for the people of Mormugao taluka to watch national level theatre plays,” he added. All the plays will be presented at 7 pm. On June 26, ‘An Enemy of the People’ written by Henry Lisbon and directed by Yogendra Singh Parmar will be presented. On June 27, ‘Dak Ghar’ written by Ravindra Tagore and directed by Sanket Jain will be presented. On June 28, ‘Kirtan’ written and directed by Ambika Kamal will be presented. On June 29, ‘Meera’ written by Gurucharan Das and directed by Sahil will be presented.
