India enjoyed a productive Day 10 at the Asian Games 2026, collecting medals across shooting, boxing and athletics while producing several notable performances in volleyball and archery.
The biggest moment came in the shooting range, where Neeru Dhanda won the women’s trap individual gold medal. The Indian shooter entered the final as the top qualifier and maintained her composure throughout the contest. She finished with 28 hits from 30 shots, beating China’s Sun Yunong, who recorded 26 hits.
Neeru’s victory gave India its fifth gold medal of the Games and also resulted in an Asian record. Earlier in the day, she had teamed up with Aashima Ahlawat and Manisha Keer to win silver in the women’s trap team event. The Indian trio finished behind China with a score of 328.
Shapath Bharadwaj, meanwhile, could not add another medal in the men’s trap individual final. He qualified for the medal round after winning a three-way shoot-off but struggled from the beginning of the final. Shapath managed seven hits from his first 10 shots and was eliminated in eighth place.
Boxing also produced significant results for India. Parveen booked her place in the women’s 65kg final after defeating China’s Li Shu in the semifinal. She won the opening round 3-2 before taking the second 5-0 and completing the victory. She will face Chinese Taipei’s Chen Nien-chin in the gold-medal bout.
Ankush Panghal also advanced to a boxing final after producing a comeback victory against Uzbekistan’s world champion Fazliddin in the men’s 80kg semifinal. Ankush lost the opening round 4-1 but responded strongly, taking the second round 3-2 and dominating the third 5-0. He will meet South Korea’s Kim Min-Seong in the final.
Narender secured a bronze medal in the men’s +90kg category despite losing his semifinal to Kazakhstan’s reigning world champion Aibek Oralbay. Narender trailed heavily after two rounds but mounted a late comeback, landing several clean punches and forcing a standing count. Oralbay eventually won by unanimous decision.
Athletics then provided another major boost. Gulveer Singh won bronze in the men’s 5000m final with a time of 13:32.75. Bahrain’s Birhanu Balew won gold, while Japan’s Tomonori Yamaguchi took silver. Gulveer added the bronze to his earlier silver medals in the 10,000m and 1,500m events.
India also won bronze in the mixed 4x100m relay, clocking 41.06 seconds in the Asian Games debut of the event. Pooja Singh added another bronze in the women’s high jump.
The evening brought India’s first athletics gold of the Games. The women’s 4x400m relay team of Vithya Ramraj, Kiran, Prachi and Poovamma clocked 3:29.69 to win the title, ahead of Bahrain and China.
India later signed off its athletics campaign with a bronze in the men’s 4x400m relay. The quartet clocked 3:01.61, finishing behind Japan and Qatar.
By the end of the day, India had added eight medals and reached 53 overall, including six gold, 21 silver and 26 bronze, moving to 10th place in the medal table.
