MARGAO: Congress spokesman Babu Azgaonkar has rejected BJP’s demand for an apology on the burqa row, saying that he stands by his statement. “There’s no question of apologising for my statement on the burqa row. The BJP should first apologise since members of the RSS had attended the Sunday rally in burqas,” Azgaonkar told the media. The former minister said he does not require any certificate from the BJP and people like Sheikh Jina. “People from all communities, including the Muslim community, are aware of my work for uplifting all communities. “I have been elected thrice as an MLA”, he said, while saying that Sheikh Jina will know his true place if he contests the Assembly polls. He pointed out that BJP MLA Vishnu Wagh had stayed away from the Sunday rally as he was apprehensive of an attack from burqa-clad RSS functionaries.
