The Margao police arrested one Shrikant Halkatti, who is wanted in Khanapur-Belgaum for the murder of his wife and three daughters.
Margao PI Santosh Desai said the murder accused had come down to Goa a day ago and was putting up with his friend, who was employed as a waiter in a hotel in the SGPDA complex here.
The Karnataka police tracked his presence in Margao after the accused called up his alleged paramour from the STD booth in the PDA complex. Based on the information, the Karnataka police alerted the Margao police, who after conducting an inquiry found that the accused had stayed in his friend’s room after fleeing to Goa.
“After we received the information from our Karnataka counterparts, we immediately descended at the hotel and after verification found that the accused had stayed in the room of a hotel employee”, PI Desai said.
The Khanapur police today took the accused in their custody and took him to Karnataka on a transfer warrant.
