Benaulim meet resolves to file FIR against ex-sarpanch

MARGAO: The Benaulim gram sabha on Sunday unanimously resolved to demand for a full time secretary for the panchayat as the present secretary being part time was not able to attend to day-to-day works of the panchayat.

MARGAO:  The  Benaulim gram sabha on Sunday unanimously resolved to demand for a full time secretary for the panchayat as the present secretary being part time was not able to attend to day-to-day works of the panchayat. 
Gram sabha members resolved to approach the local MLA as well as the Director of Panchayats with their demand.  The gram sabha was informed that the panchayat was yet to submit the resolution taken at last gram sabha demanding scraping of Mopa airport and retaining Dabolim airport to the concern authorities including the CM which the sarpanch promised to send soon.
Sarpanch Royla Fernandes  informed that in regard to re-assessment of tax for hotels,  the body has decided to inspect and then impose fresh tax. She further informed that  in case of  house  tax, the panchayat  has started recovery and shall call tender for door to door survey and collect data  to be used to re-assess  the tax.  
The gram sabha resolved to file FIR with police against the former sarpanch and members for purchasing defective Xerox machine and to recover the cost of same from them even as the sarpanch stated that the body has decided to file a case against the supplier of the machine for recovery of cost. 
Commotion was witnessed over the issue of filing of the two vacancies for post of LDC in the panchayat for which interview have been held four months back. 
It was informed that some panchayat members were in favour of regularizing the two temporary staff who had been working for past over 5 years.   
However questions were raised as to why the interviews were held and local youth have been made to wait anxiously for the result. 
Gram sabha member Agnelo threatened that if panchayat fails to declare the result of the interview, the gram sabha members will be forced to approach court while Ciriaco maintained that the sealed result be opened at next gram sabha in case the body fails to declare the same.
Agnelo also moved a resolution that secretary should inform higher authorities  in case the body takes inappropriate wrong resolution  while Rodrigues pointed that Lotus Resorts had been approved as hotel project somewhere in 2002  however that it  was  not charged    commercial tax to which sarpanch  promised to act. Issue of illegal construction and garbage were also discussed at Sunday gram sabha.
