Benaulim VP officials inspect site

The Benaulim Panchayat on Sunday inspected a site where a retaining wall is being demolished along the road.
Agitated villagers accompanied by Acting Sarpanch Stanley Fernandes and Panchayat Secretary Rajendra Naik inspected the site this morning after the gram sabha meeting.
The villagers questioned the panchayat officials whether any NOC was obtained from the Panchayat by the concerned party before razing down the retaining wall.
They demanded to know why the ward member failed to bring the activity to the notice of the Panchayat.
The Acting Sarpanch explained to the villagers that no NOC has been obtained from the Panchayat during his short tenure. He, however, told the villagers that he would ask the Panchayat secretary to go through the correspondence to ascertain whether any NOC was issued by the Panchayat before he assumed office.
The Panchayat secretary told the people that he had not issued any NOC to demolish the wall.
