A unique literary initiative aimed at securing a place in the India Book of Records got underway in Bicholim on Friday as poet Dattaprasad Jog began a non-stop 24-hour poetry recitation marathon.
The event, organised by Pandit Deendayal Shikshan Sanstha under the banner of Jog’s literary initiative ‘Kavyajog’, seeks to promote the art of poetry, encourage emerging poets, and offer literature enthusiasts a rare experience of continuous poetry recitation.

The record attempt has generated an enthusiastic response from the literary fraternity in Bicholim, with poets, students, and members of the public gathering to witness the historic occasion. Throughout the 24-hour marathon, Jog will recite poems on a diverse range of themes in an effort to establish a new benchmark in the Indian literary landscape.
Organisers expressed confidence that the initiative would inspire greater appreciation for poetry and provide fresh impetus to Goa’s literary movement. They said the event is intended not only to achieve a record but also to celebrate the richness of literature and encourage young writers to pursue the art of poetry.
Dignitaries present at the inaugural programme lauded Dattaprasad Jog’s dedication and observed that such initiatives play an important role in nurturing literary talent and fostering a love for literature among the younger generation.
