PONDA: The bike riders from Ponda are suffering the most on account of deteriorated roads, due to ongoing sewerage work in the town.
On account of the digging for sewerage work and with incessant rains, the roads have become unmotorable causing hardship to the commuters.
With the sewerage work still pending, they are worried that they have to face more inconvenience in the coming days as the government has already declared recently that until and unless the sewerage network work is not completed in Ponda it would not hot-mix the roads.
The bike riders were hoping that the patchwork of roads before Ganesh festival as assured by PWD Minister done for few roads will bring some relief to them but still most of the roads are in deteriorated condition and now the material dumped including coal tar and rubble in the potholes is inviting dust pollution blinding the riders while passing through it. At some places, patchwork has led to increase in height of the road making a bumpy ride.
The 1000 chamber pits dug on the road are still not covered properly. Bike riders Hanumnath Naik and Dilesh Kerkar, who suffered back pain after riding through such roads, are worried that their plight would continue for more days.
The contractor of sewerage work says 90 per cent work is completed, which means that some more days are required to complete the work.
PWD Minister recently announced that the hot-mixing of the road would begin from November and complete in May 2020.
