MARGAO: The parishioners of Rachol along with the Parish Priest of Rachol Church, Fr Eremito Rebello announced the 150th birth anniversary of Ven Fr Agnelo.
Fr Rebello informed that the Vice Postulator of Pilar Seminary requested that the celebration must be held in Rachol.
“Fr Agnelo was born on 21st January 1869 in Anjuna. He studied in Anjuna, Mapusa and Rachol. He worked in Shiroda, Savordem, Kumta and then he spent the last 8 years in Rachol Seminary. He passed away on November 20, 1927. He was buried in Rachol cemetery and after 11 years his remains were shifted to Pilar Seminary. The place where he was buried is still preserved,” informed Fr Rebello.
Fr Rebello announced that there will be a holy hour in Rachol Seminary, on January 21 at 3 pm. After that, a relic of Fr Agnelo which will be brought to Rachol from Pilar, will be placed at his cemetery where there will be a prayer held for his sainthood. A special mass will be held at 5 pm outside the Rachol Church by Pilar Society’s Fr Nazareth and Fr Nirmal.
