MARGAO: The Margao and Fatorda units of the BJP launched their Uttarakhand relief fund drive on Friday.
While the Fatorda unit launched its drive in the morning in the presence of former MLA Damu Naik, Industries Minister Mahadev Naik along with Chairman of Goa Law Commission Narendra Savaikar, besides local leaders Rupesh Mahatme and Sharmad Raiturkar initiated the drive in the New market on Friday evening.
The workers moved around the business establishments seeking donations for the relief fund.
The industries minister told newspersons that the Goa unit of the BJP has set a target of Rs 20 crore for the Uttarakhand relief fund. “We have set a target of Rs three lakh from every constituency. But, the party is confident that Goans would generously donate for the cause of the rehabilitation and reconstruction of flood ravaged Uttarakhand,” Mahadev said.
He said Chief Minister Manohar Parirkar has already announced the government’s resolve to adopt two villages of Uttarakhand.
