PANJIM: Bharatiya Janata Party’s national working President J P Nadda will address a public awareness rally on Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) on January 3, Friday, at Azad Maidan.
In a press conference addressed on Thursday, BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar said that Nadda, who will be visiting Goa for the first time after being appointed as BJP working president, will address the rally on CAA.
Total 26,000-27,000 karyakartas along with Ministers and party MLAs will be attending the rally, which will start from EDC Patto at 3.30 pm and conclude with a public meeting at Azad Maidan.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant will also address the rally. The State government has already extended its support to the Act.
Tendulkar said that Central law on citizenship is receiving huge support not just in India but also at International platforms. He said that in Countries like America, United Kingdom, people have come out in support of CAA.
He said that like urban Naxalities, some political parties like Congress, TMC, Samajwadi party, BSP are opposing the Act for the sake of opposing it.
Tendulkar said that there is no much opposition to CAA in Goa so far, “even as Congress is trying to mislead the public.” Taking jibe at Congress protests on CAA last week, Tendulkar said that it was attended only by 228 people.
Meanwhile, BJP State President Vinay Tendulkar said that the new State BJP chief and the executive committee will be appointed in next eight to ten days.
He said that the party president will be decided by the karyakartas.
