BJP will retain power: CM Sawant

Says BJP will be in government and Congress in opposition post polls

PANJIM: While the opposition is leaving no stone unturned to create pressure on the BJP ahead of the 2022 general Assembly elections, Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant has exuded confidence that BJP will retain power for the third consecutive time. Speaking to a section of the media on the sidelines of a function at Directorate of Fire & Emergency Services (DFES), Sawant further said that Congress will remain as the opposition.

“Irrespective of the number of parties that come to the State, I feel BJP and opposition Congress will remain. BJP will once again form the government and Congress will remain in the opposition. Finally, it will all depend on the people,” he said.

On being questioned if the entry of new political parties in Goa is a cause of concern for him, Sawant said, “When elections come, parties go to poll-bound states, make noise for a while and then disappear. Similar situation happened in Goa in 2017.”

He added that neither he nor the party are worried about new political parties making their way into Goa ahead of the polls. “I trust the people of Goa. I have faith in the work done by the BJP government for the people of the State,” he said.
