CURCHOREM: Even after conducting search and rescue operation for more than 24 hours the body of ripper machine operator Manoj Naik could not be traced, which is said to have fallen from a height of around 80 meters and was buried in the mining pit, while leveling the area at the Sesa Goa Vedanta Codli mine on Friday evening.
When contacted at around 9 pm, Curchorem Police Inspector Ravindra Dessai said that he was still at the site and the rescue operation was going on. “The company brought their experts and is trying to locate the body with the help of NDMR and fire and emergency services crew.”
Dharbandora Dy Collector Rohit Kadam, Mamlatdar Laximkant Kuttikar, Quepem Mamlatdar Prataprao Gaonkar and Dy SP Uttam Raut Dessai were present at the site till late night.
