PANJIM: Booth Level Officers (BLOs) under the banner of the Goa Government Employees Association (GGEA) on Monday resolved to write another letter to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) urging him to fulfil their grievances within 15 days.
Booth Level Officers working throughout Goa raised issue of work schedule, use of personal mobile for election work and protested at Azad Maidan on Monday afternoon.
The mocha, which was scheduled to be taken from Altinho Joggers Park to CEO office, was shifted to the Azad Maidan due to deployment of police and section 144 of the CrPC being invoked on all roads leading to CEO office.
Speaking to reporters, Goa Government Employees Association President, John Nazareth said, “As CEO was not in office, we met Joint CEO and Collector to address the grievances faced by BLOs. The collector said they were working to solve the issues. We have resolved to write another letter to the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) urging to fulfil the demands within 15 days.”
Booth Level Officers in Goa were aggrieved with guidelines of the AERO issued at the behest of the CEO which compelled them to work on public holidays, beyond office hours, take assistance of their spouse and children to complete their work, use personal mobile for election work and work on smart phones even if they do not understand how to use one.
