Borda local meets watery grave at Benaulim

MARGAO: Thirty-two-year-old Manish Shanke, a resident of Borda, Margao met a watery grave off Benaulim Beach on Monday morning.
Manish and his other friend, both Margao residents visited the beach at around 6.30 am. As Manish had gone for a walk, his friend preferred to sleep in the car. After he woke up at around 9 am, he realised that Manish was missing and so he went out searching for him. After reaching the lifeguard tower, he saw Manish’s body being retrieved from the water at around 9.30 am. 
The lifeguard on duty said that he noticed a body floating about 100 metres away. He rushed with a rescue board while relaying a call or back-up. The body was retrieved and rushed to the hospital in a Drishti jeep as the vital signs were missing.
Seven persons were rescued. A 40-year-old Russian tourist and 33-year-old male tourist from Delhi were rescued at Colva and Varca respectively. 
A woman and a teen were rescued in Baga while two male tourists from Delhi were rescued in Calangute. 
A 23-year-old Kashmir native was rescued at Arambol.
