Hitting out at the State government for not paying heed to the public’s opposition to the three linear projects of the Central government, Khaunte referred to the number of protests on the street and questioned if Sawant really had the ‘people’s mandate’.

He also expressed concern that locals of Goan origin may soon be made as non-Goans and that there could soon be a time where these ‘outsiders’ are ruling Goa and Goans are made a minority in their own State.

In his criticism of the budget, which he said is full of ‘election jhumlas’,  Khaunte said there is a gap of Rs 13,000 crore between the expenditure and income figures.  He referred to many other errors in how the budget had been prepared.
