PANJIM: Panjim residents complain that the most ‘lucrative’ parking spots in the city have been taken over by private taxis. According to the Road Transport Authority, private taxis have to park at their residences and are on call. Taxis have been having a tiff with hotels for designated parking places, outside their premises. However, in the city most taxis are parked on public roads.
According to residents, in prime areas such as Church Square, opposite hotels such as Fidalgo, Mandovi and Park Plaza, 80 per cent of the parking is hogged by tourist taxis, leaving others to literally fight for the remaining places, as they come early and occupy them, before office goers come to the city.
