Calangute Panchayat has launched Phase 2 of its drive to clear illegal roadside encroachments across the area. Officials said notices had been served to around 23 structures, prompting most owners to remove the encroachments voluntarily. However, the Panchayat proceeded with the demolition of four to five remaining structures that failed to comply. Heavy machinery was deployed and police were present to maintain order during the operation. Authorities stated that the crackdown would continue in the coming days, with further inspections planned to ensure that public spaces and road margins remain unobstructed for residents and tourists.
