Hyderabad youth drowns at Calangute

A leisure trip to Goa ended in tragedy for a group of six youths from Amir Peth, Hyderabad, after one of them drowned at Calangute beach on Tuesday evening.

The deceased, 23-year-old Shaikh Parvez, had entered the water with his friends when he was suddenly swept away by strong currents. His friend Mohammed Ibrahim rushed in to rescue him but began struggling as the waves intensified. Lifeguards on duty intervened immediately and managed to pull Ibrahim out. He was found gasping and severely exhausted before being shifted to Candolim Primary Health Centre for treatment.

Despite the swift response, Parvez was dragged into deeper waters and went missing. Teams from Calangute Police, Coastal Police, and lifeguards have launched an extensive search operation, expanding the effort towards Baga beach, particularly the stretch near Titos Lane where currents may have carried him.

The group of six friends travelling together included Somesh, Syed Sohail, Akheel Pasha, Shaik Ismail Zabi, Mohammed Ibrahim and Shaik Parvez (deceased). Authorities continue to monitor the coastline, and search efforts are expected to intensify until the body is found.
