MARGAO: Demanding sacking of Tourism Minister, Dilip Parulekar from the Ministry, Independent MLA Vijai Sardesai urged the Chief Minister to maintain the original idea of “one EDM festival – one venue”.
“The government much touted transparency is a fairy tale. If Parrikar wishes to maintain his personal credibility, or whatever remains of it, he should demand the resignations of his Ministers and MLAs, who are clearly seen to be indulging in corruption and who are part of the unholy nexus and those whose Indian citizenship is in doubt. People had voted for the parivartan because of Manohar Parrikar and not Parulekar or others,” he said at a media briefing.
Expressing his shock that the government has granted permission to all the three applicants, Vijai said “Parrikar, when he was the leader of the opposition in 2010, had stated that such events are places where drugs are freely available. Does he intend to make thrice the amount of drugs available this year. The Tourism Minister has been caught hobnobbing with Percept MD and a known history sheeter of the area. After the meeting, the SLEC, which had earlier turned down Vagator as a venue because of the narrow access of just three meters, now grants permission to Percept for the same venue. Does Parrikar need any more proof of the politician-criminal-drugs nexus. Or, is the much-hyped zero tolerance to corruption now just a joke.”
He said the Goa Zone superintendent of the Narcotics Control Bureau has stated that Goa is a hotspot for drugs, while the local ANC seems to be silent spectators.
