Candolim villagers condemn TCP for approving draft ODP

CANDOLIM: The members of a local activist group and the Candolim villagers have strongly condemned the recent approval of “the draconian draft ODP of Calangute-Candolim by the TCP board” despite the strong objections raised by the people.
According to Candolim Residents and Consumer Forum (CRCF), the Town and Country Planning (TCP) Minister, Vijai Sardesai, has once again backstabbed the people of Calangute and Candolim.
The CRCF said that last month Sardesai met with the residents of Candolim to hear their grievances on the PDA/ODP of Calangute-Candolim. However, the CRCF rued, even after hearing their grievances, the minister allowed the draft ODP to be approved by the TCP board.
“With the support of the people, we will now intensify our agitation against the PDA and ODP which is here to destroy us completely. We were and are serious about our mission to free Calangute and Candolim from the PDA and ODP. We are also exploring the legal options,” the CRCF said.
CRCF informed that a Public Interest Writ Petition, challenging the draft ODP of Candolim is pending before High Court of Bombay at Goa
“In November 2017, the court had passed an order staying all construction licences and occupancy certificates, but despite that the government has prepared the ODP in violation of the law and making mockery of the judicial system of our country India,” the activist group added.
