Car owner arrested in headless murder case

MARGAO, JAN 27 Continuing its investigations into the sensational headless body murder case, the police on Thursday arrested the owner of the Maruti Swift vehicle which was allegedly used to take away deceased Sultan Bellary from Bellary to an unknown destination.

Continuing its investigations into the sensational headless body murder case, the police on Thursday arrested the owner of the Maruti Swift vehicle which was allegedly used to take away deceased Sultan Bellary from Bellary to an unknown destination.
The vehicle owner Nitin Dicholkar was placed under arrest and the swift car attached as part of the investigations. The police had earlier recovered a Maruti van which was allegedly used by the accused persons to take away Sultan from Benaulim. A scooter has also been attached.
In another development, the police raided the general store at Calconda as part of the probe.
Maina Curtorim PI SIdhant Shirodkar said the Swift vehicle which was allegedly used to take away deceased Sultan Bellary, a native of Bellary-Karnataka, was attached by the police from near a Temple at Rumdamol-Davolrim village. He said the owner of the vehicle was summoned to the police station today after which the vehicle was attached from the Temple premises.
The police are interrogating the owner as to who was using the Swift car and how the vehicle landed at Benaulim on that fateful night.
Meanwhile, a police team on Thursday conducted a search of the shop of  Govind, who has been arrested by the police in connection with Sultan’s murder.
PI Shirodkar informed that the search did not unearth any incriminating material from the premises, adding that the police questioned the owner of the missing staff.
“We have conducted the raid after obtaining a search warrant. The police are investigating the murder from all angles. Since it is a sensitive matter, the investigation is being carried out step by step”, he said, while reiterating that the police are on the look out for 7-8 persons in connection with the case.
“The brain behind the gruesome murder has been identified. It is jut a matter of time for the police to arrest the main accused”, he added.
Meanwhile, Vivek Naik, who was arrested by the police in connection with the murder on Wednesday, has been remanded to 10 days police custody.
Accused Govind has also been remanded to 10 days police for further investigations into the cold blooded murder.
