Case of medical negligence filed

PANJIM: Agassaim police have registered an offence against unknown doctors at Goa Medical College and Hospital for medical negligence after a patient reported they left a piece of gauze in his abdomen.

PANJIM: Agassaim police have registered an offence against unknown doctors at Goa Medical College and Hospital for medical negligence after a patient reported they left a piece of gauze in his abdomen.
The victim, a daily wage worker from Andhra Pradesh Palavalasa Mohana Rao had undergone surgery at GMC in April 2013. Since then the gauze remained in his stomach causing pain.
“He returned to his native place after the surgery but the pain continued. He underwent another operation in AP where doctors detected the medical gauze in his stomach. It was removed,” PI Jivba Dalvi said.
A case was registered at Gopalapatnam police station which was transferred to Agassaim police station. Dalvi said they have registered an offence against unidentified GMC doctors. “We have begun an investigation to find out who conducted the surgery,” he said.
