Locals continue to face difficulties while commuting on the Benaulim-Varca road as well as roads in Cavelossim and Cansaulim, which are riddled with potholes but have not been repaired by the authorities. Benaulim panchayat member David Fernandes and residents recently planted saplings in the potholes to draw the attention of the authorities to the bad condition of the roads.
The monsoons have only made matters worse for the residents, tourists and general public as the roads get inundated. To their dismay, the Public Works Department stated that major repair works would be taken up only after the monsoons.
