PONDA: An operative working under cash-for-jobs queenpin Deepashree Sawant was nabbed by the Mardol Police for taking money from aspirants with the promise of government jobs. Aniket Khandolkar (27) is reportedly a former employee of Art and Culture Minister Govind Gaude and worked as an office boy for him.
However, Ponda DSP Shivram Vaigankar claimed that Khandolkar, a resident of Tivrem-Marcel, had quit two months ago. Interestingly, the cops did not press for his custody when Khandolkar was produced in the Ponda court. He was remanded to 13 days of judicial custody.
This is the fourth accomplice of Deepashree to be arrested. Police sources said that Deepashree transferred Rs 9 lakh into the account of Khandolkar and he was picked up after police traced the financial transactions.
Meanwhile, Gaude did not respond to calls for comments when this paper reached out to him.
