PANJIM: Crime Branch (CB) on Thursday busted a gang of motorcycle thieves and arrested two persons and two minors have been sent to Apna Ghar. The team also recovered four motorcycles stolen from them.
“Based on specific information, Atul Nak, a resident of Santan Wado, Goa Velha was detained. He has been working as a steward in a hotel at Ponda. During interrogation, he confessed of his involvement in the crime. He also disclosed the involvement of two others and that two of the stolen motorcycles were sold to a Ponda resident for a small amount,” said a police officer.
The bikes that had been sold were recovered from the possession of Mani Rai, a native of Nepal and temporary resident of Ponda. He has also been arrested, while the two minor boys have been lodged at Apna Ghar.
The CB team of PI Dattaguru Sawant, PI Rahul Parab, PSI Girish Padloskar and others recovered the remaining three bikes which were kept at different places around Vasco.
Police stations will be intimated about the recovery to carry out necessary action as complaints of vehicle thefts are registered at the local PS.
