MARGAO: Taking up the cudgels for residents of Salcete over the frequent power cuts in the taluka, the Colva Civic and Consumer Forum in a letter addressed to the Power Minister Pandurang Madkaikar has threatened to approach courts if the prevailing situation continues.
“For the last almost fifteen days, the electricity has been going off often and for long periods till date. It is unacceptable that we consumers are being put through these deficient services. Your department has caused us tremendous difficulties. It is unacceptable that your department has still not been able to sort out the problem in Nessai,” CCCF stated.
“This is the constant refrain of your engineers. We will be forced to approach the courts. You have no hesitation in granting electricity connections to more and more commercial and residential buildings when you cannot provide regular supply to the existing residents, many of whom are old, infants and sick people,” mentions CCCF in their message to the Power Minister.
“Your department have made life hell. We are unable to go about our normal life. Your department is violating our right to live,” alleged Judith Almeida of the CCCF.
