Seamen to go on hunger strike on June 25

MARGAO: The seamen have unanimously decided to hold an indefinite hunger strike on the June 25 at the Directorate General of Shipping in Mumbai to demand fulfilment of their 8 pending demands.

MARGAO: The seamen have unanimously decided to hold an indefinite hunger strike on the June 25 at the Directorate General of Shipping in Mumbai to demand fulfilment of their 8 pending demands. 
The decision was taken at a conference organised by Forward Seamen’s Union of India & All India Retired Seafarers Federation with Goan Seamen Association of India at Margao for working and retired seafarers to educate them on their rights and MLC 2006.
GSAI spokesperson Dixon Vaz said, “We have made the seafarers from Goa aware of the present problems and exploitation they are facing and in turn they have unanimously supported the hunger strike decision”.
