CCF visits Keri, confirms presence of tiger

Chief Conservator of forest (CCF) Shashi Kumar on Tuesday visited Keri Sattari and agreed to the presence of a tiger in the area.
It may be recalled that footprints of a tiger were spotted at Keri on Monday and the forest department was informed about it. Taking note of it, the CCF visited the area and personally inspected the area.
According to reports, besides the footprint, a worker who was working close to the place where the footprint was found, had seen a female tigress along with a cub.
Speaking to media, CCF Chief Shashi Kumar admitted that there could be a tiger in the area.
“The footprint seems to be that of a tiger, but we are yet to verify it. We will send the prints for scientific examination so that we have a proof of the presence of a tiger,” said Shashi Kumar.
He further said that the area would be monitored as Tiger is among the endangered species in India.
“We will monitor the area and keep a vigil so that the animal is not harmed by anyone, as it is an endangered species,” added Kumar.
It may be recalled that Keri-Sattari was in the news some years ago, when the carcass of a tiger was found in the forest. The forest department had arrested several persons from the village in this connection.
