Chaudi school in sorry state

POINGUINIM: The government primary school at Chaudi, Canacona, is in a dilapidated condition. The rafters are decaying, while the roof tiles often come crashing down.

The school, which is located in the heart of the city, will see around 927 voters exercise their franchise for the municipal elections in October.
According to sources in the Canacona ADEI office, they had informed the Pubic Works Department (PWD) and their higher-ups in the Directorate of Education about the bad condition of the building around two years ago, but no action had been taken.
Meanwhile, PWD sources stated that they had prepared the estimates for the repair work and had sent the same to the upper division for the expenditure sanction. Canacona resident, Laurence Barreto, who is a member of the LIONS club, stated that many children are studying in the school and that the government will wake up only when a tragedy takes place.
