Vasco police informed that Akshay was heading towards Vasco from Chicalim on his Honda Activa scooter. On reaching a sharp turn near St Joseph Institute at around 10.30 am, he was dashed by an empty tanker, which was proceeding in same direction.
Akshay sustained grievous injuries to his legs and was shifted to SMRC Hospital at Chicalim. He was than referred to GMC Hospital at Bambolim in a critical state, where he breathed his last. Police have arrested the driver of the tanker Suresh Gawde (28) of Mangor Hill.
for rash and negligent driving. Akshay’s funeral will be held at his native place in Cumbharjua at 10.30 am on August 28.
