MARGAO: Angry at the alleged false complaints against them by Colva Panch Francis Cardozo, the ruling group members have decided to file a complaint against Cardozo and seek is disqualification.
The ruling panchas led by Sarpanch Menino Fernandes and Calvert Gonsalves have alleged that Panch Francis has been filing false complaints against them under ST Act to hide his extortion and illegalities in Colva.
Sarpanch Menino Fernandes, Panchas Clavert Gonsalves, Caje Fernandes, Blaisy Fernandes and Natalina Fernandes have decided to approach the DIG of Goa Police to complain against false complaints against them.
“Francis is getting lots of extortion money from all the illegal businesses on the beach line. He is the panch of this area and has total control over illegal businesses like ice cream sellers, illegal massage parlours, matka and others,” alleged Calvert Gonsalves.
“These complaints are being filed to hide these illegalities. Francis is filing these fake complaints under Prevention of Atrocities against ST Act and trying to pressurize us to ignore his illegalities,” said Menino Fernandes.
“The Colva police are mute spectators of this entire fake complaint campaign and are registering cases which are false and have no basis,” alleged Calvert.
“Colva police take complaints, but don’t inquire into the entire matter. Till date not one complaint filed by this person could be established as genuine; and on the contrary our genuine complaints are not entertained at Colva police station,” complained Menino.
“We are going to meet the DIG and complaint against these professional NGOs as well as those who pressure the panchayat to hide their extortion. A complaint will also be filed at Scheduled Tribes Commission so that there is an end to this harassment under the garb of ST protection,” alleged Menino.
“Francis has blocked all the clearances of various businesses for months, now. This is essentially to extort money to get these works cleared. I have cleared these files which he had blocked and that is why he has been filing these cases,” alleged Calvert Gonsalves.
The panchas allege that Francis has been running matka in tourism department stalls and four other places.
