PANJIM: The Chimbel gram sabha slammed the village panchayat over its failure to implement several resolutions passed during the last meeting.
According to a local manch, frequent power failures, garbage and sewage water clearance, water supply issues at Kadamba plateau, panchayat online system/website creation, action/fees collection from cable/tower and TV cable operators, land arrangement for stray dogs & cattle arrangement, tree plantation, action plan for outstanding tax/dues collection, action on hill illegal cutting & deforestation, village developmental plan preparation were some of the resolutions passed at the last gram sabha.
Chimbel Gram Seva Kala Ani Sankrutik Manch secretary Tukaram Kunkalker, in a statement said not a single resolution was implemented by the panchayat which has irked villagers. “The resolutions were based on village developmental work. Instead of implementation, the sarpanch gave misleading, confusing justification and blamed government departments,” he said.
Another issue discussed was on the alleged illegal development work on government land. The work, the gram sabha said, was carried out by an unknown person.
“It is not known who is exactly carrying out these developmental activities as there is no sign board displayed at the site. It gives clear indication that this land is being developed privately and for that purpose road network is being created by felling of trees and levelling slopes,” the secretary said.
The gram sabha resolved to demand that the panchayat immediately take up the matter with the government to stop encroachment and take legal action, if required.
The Manch has appealed to Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar to intervene in the matter and initiate an impartial inquiry.
