MARGAO: Benaulim MLA Churchill Alemao on Saturday held a meeting at Seraulim panchayat with officials of the Konkan Railway Corporation (KRC) and asked them to submit a report within a month regarding a rail underpass or over-bridge in the village.
He agreed that people were facing hardships due to the manned level-crossing in the village, which besides wasting time also resulted in traffic jams, adding that if rail underpass was not possible, then an over-bridge should be made, without damaging any houses in the area. He also wanted a solution to let cattle cross the tracks.
I have raised the matter with Union Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu and he has assured me all cooperation, he said, while asking railway officials to come up with a solution soon. He also agreed that there was need to have a proper panchayat ghar for the village.
