MES College, Zuarinagar caters to a large number of students in and around its vicinity in Mormugao Taluka. But the scene around the road starting from MES Junction till the internal road inside the college is very pathetic.
There are vehicles parked on either side of road thereby forcing the students and pedestrians to walk in the middle of the road. This is the major cause of road accidents as the pedestrians block the way.
One more important observation is that the residents near MES College along the side have encroached the land. Their compound wall reaches almost near the road which is against the rule as they have to compulsory leave the set back area. Due to this factor too pedestrians are forced to walk in the middle of the road. Also it has been observed that some of the youths drive the vehicles, specially two-wheelers in a harsh and negligent manner. Thus the safety of the pedestrians is always a major concern while walking along the road side. There have many cases of road accidents reported in the past near the MES junction stretch. A traffic police have to be kept at the junction especially to avoid road accidents.
The teachers, parents and the locals have requested the concerned authorities to take immediate action against the residents who have encroached the land.
We also request deputation of traffic cops around MES Junction to stop illegal parking of vehicles along the road to avoid road accidents.
