VALPOI: During the tenure of Ravi Naik as the Member Parliament of Lok Sabha from North Goa, he had distributed the ambulances through the MP funds to the rural Panchayats of North Goa.
Some ambulances were not used by some panchayats and can be seen lying unused in front of panchayat area in Sattari taluka.
Similarly, an ambulance can be seen lying unused, collecting rust, in front of Poriem panchayat.
On visiting the panchayat and inquiring about the same, officials came up with absurd answers.
According to the officials the panchayat cannot provide regular driver for the ambulance and they are in no position to spend money for petrol since their panchayat did not have funds.
The ex-sarpanch Gurudas Gaonkar too clarified, saying when I was the panch member of Poriem panchayat that time the panchayat was getting less funds from the government and during that time the house tax too was very low.
When the people asked for ambulance help they were not ready to pay the travel rental and that’s why that ambulance is lying unused till date, he clarified.
Hopefully the concerned authorities will find a solution and put these ambulances to good use.
