No more power cuts please

I am raising my concern as a citizen of Goa, businessman and on behalf of the whole village of Pilerne, which faces the electricity power supply problem throughout the entire year. In summer, the mercury shoots up to 36 degree Celsius and the helpless residents spend sleepless nights.

The issue of frequent power cuts, days and weeks without electricity supply has brought us to a point where we are forced to raise this problem to the higher authorities even after which the problem still persists. Inefficient high and low tension line maintenance. Branches and trees have been lying on supply lines for months, roads have been dug and destroyed for which we face a lot of problems during the monsoons and rest of the year. Huge depressions in the roads for which we all suffer in the hopes of the commencement of the underground power lines but this is a farfetched dream here in Pilerne.

The electricity being the main foundation for the businesses and household activities, the poor supply has left us helpless and in the hopes of a better future, we still raise and will continue to raise this concern in darkness until we are heard by the government or the concern department. We have never been in a situation that could get worse than this. This questions a lot of our governance and the power to which we willingly give our so called representatives or leaders.

I hope this letter will awaken the concerned authorities from their slumber.  It’s time not only for the villagers of Pilerne but our entire taxpaying State of Goa facing similar problems to stand up for what we stand on.
