Pavement cleared for pedestrians at Old Goa

In my letter ‘Have dedicated zones for hawkers,’ which appeared in the “Citizen Herald” page (Herald, November 6), I had highlighted the need to have dedicated zones for vendors and hawkers. As part of the article I had also included a photograph,  which showed vendors occupying the entire breadth of the pavement at Old Goa, leaving no space for pedestrians to walk.
Thankfully, the authorities have taken note of this and have pushed the vendors with their goods to the space available at the back of the pavement, so as to leave walking space for pedestrians.
This step by the authorities has provided sufficient space on the pavement for the pedestrians to walk on, as seen in the photograph.
I hope several other pavements at various places in the State too are kept free from hawkers and vendors, for the pedestrians to walk on.
